Cuisine Chinese
- 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
The Special Sauce
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- Optional: red pepper flakes or Sriracha sauce for spice
- Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, water, and sesame oil. Set aside.
Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add sliced beef and stir fry for 2-3 minutes, or until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
In the same wok, add another tbsp vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, and stir fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add broccoli florets to the wok and stir fry for 2-3 minutes, or until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.
Return the cooked beef to the wok with the broccoli. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli, and stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Optional: If you want some heat, sprinkle red pepper flakes or drizzle Sriracha sauce over the stir fry and toss to incorporate.
Remove from heat and serve the beef and broccoli stir fry and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Slice the beef against the grain to ensure tenderness.
- Precook the broccoli by blanching or steaming briefly before stir-frying for a vibrant color and crisp texture.
- For extra flavor, marinate the beef in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and cornstarch before cooking.
- Have all the ingredients prepped and ready to go before starting the stir fry to ensure a quick and efficient cooking process.
